In the heart of the Vojvodina plains, in the village of Čurug, cheeses are crafted that unite tradition and quality. Zorica Radišić, from the dairy producer Farmer Sirevi, guides us through the story of authentic products, among which Ambassador stands out as the true jewel of the collection.
“These cheeses come from pure, full-fat, first-class milk produced on our own farm. Each wheel is carefully left to mature, and the aging period varies, creating different varieties of semi-hard cheeses,” Zorica explains for HEDONIST Magazine.
Ambassador takes center stage - impressive wheels weighing between seven and eight kilograms, though smaller versions are also available. Its character lies somewhere between cheddar and gouda, offering a rich, full flavor with refined, almost medicinal notes.

It pairs beautifully with quality red wine and represents a genuine pleasure for cheese lovers.
Alongside Ambassador, the farm also produces Ataše - a younger expression of semi-hard cheese - as well as rolled cheeses that sit stylistically between mozzarella and traditional Balkan kačkavalj.
All cheeses are handmade, using natural rennet and sea salt, and must age for a minimum of three months under controlled conditions in order to develop their authentic flavor and texture.

The production relies on premium, aflatoxin-free milk sourced from cows raised on carefully controlled feed, ensuring both high quality and the natural character of the final product.
“Our cheeses are more than food - they are a reflection of tradition, care, and dedication that we invest every single day,” Zorica adds.
Farmer Sirevi from Čurug represents a true example of artisanal cheese-making tradition, where every product carries the story of the Vojvodina plains, high-quality milk, and the patience that proper aging requires.

For readers of Hedonist magazine who appreciate stories about refined flavors and the origins of food, Herzegovina offers a special address - the Perfetto Plus dairy from Nevesinje. For more than twenty years, this family-run business has been creating dairy products based on traditional Herzegovinian recipes and carefully selected local milk, building a reputation as one of the most respected producers in Eastern Herzegovina.

One of the most sought-after traditional meat delicacies is pršut. The secret of this gastronomic specialty lies in its rich aroma, deep color, and firm yet juicy, delicately salty texture. It is one of the unmistakable symbols of the traditional Herzegovinian table. Herzegovinian pršut is produced by curing pork ham exposed to smoke and the strong northern wind known as bura.

In a world constantly chasing trends and reinvention, there are places that remain faithful to what matters most - emotion, simplicity, and genuine flavor. One of those places is Basile Pizzeria in Australia, founded by Dora and Vito, two enthusiasts who have transformed Italian tradition into a contemporary, multicultural story.

In the city of sun, stone, and wine, beneath the canopies of century-old plane trees, the symbol of Trebinje, wine, food, and friends will meet once again this spring. The third edition of the Wine Fine Trebinje festival will take place on May 2, confirming the continuity and growth of an event that continues to raise the standards of the regional wine and gastronomy scene.
